CHAMPS

PRESENTED BY Everything was going right for Kentucky baseball Tuesday night against its Bluegrass State rival. First, the Wildcats came out swinging for five runs in its first turn on offense. Then their defense turned this spectacular triple play the next half-inning: 1 play... 3 OUTS!

Kentucky goes 7-2-6 for the TRIPLE PLAY!!

(via ) — NCAA Baseball (@NCAACWS) Just your run-of-the-mill 7-2-6 play in your scorecard. After a walk and a single set No. 2 Louisville up with runners on first and third to start the second inning, Colin Lyman lofted a fly ball out to left field that was deep enough for Brendan McKay (stationed on third) to test the arm of Kentucky's Zach Reks. Reks delivered an accurate one-hopper to the plate that was in time to get McKay for the double play. But the play wasn't over yet. Kentucky catcher Troy Squires then fired back down to third base — where shortstop Connor Heady was covering — and caught the final Louisville baserunner, who had attempted to advance from second on the throw home. That's one exciting way to get your pitcher out of a jam.
