Remember that weird video of a cowboy riding a buffalo wing? Well, we finally have the answers! Turns out it's a teaser for a commercial, and the hero's not riding just any ol' wing — he's riding a Zaxby's Buffalo Garlic Blaze Boneless Wing.
*Appreciative whistle* The commercial is a sequel to the viral video turned four-episode series called “Guy on a Buffalo” from 10 years ago. It follows the story of a lone cowboy and his buffalo-riding adventures, narrated to a folk song.
The new “Guy on a Buffalo” appeared on screen for the first time in 10 years during the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Ladies and gentlefolk, behold, the man you’ve waited 10 years for: Guy on a Buffalo (Wing)!
Yeehaw!In addition to our hero, this fifth episode comes with new characters of the adorable variety: The Bobcat, The Squirrel, The Fox (who seems shady but is probably harmless), and The Hedgehog. We already know this story is great for animal lovers.
It also includes a super catchy, very folksy new song — a western ballad about a guy in the wilderness living his best life and vibing with his animal besties. It's very reminiscent of the original series.
The story quickly jumps into action, with our hero emerging from the bushes on his tangy steed when — what’s that?! — he detects some “smelly smells” that lead him to a glowing bush. What does he find there? Gold? Nope! It’s Zaxby’s Buffalo Garlic Blaze Boneless Wings Meal!
Better than gold.Our hero takes his meal “to go” and comes upon a hedgehog stuck in a log. Here, Guy on a Buffalo Wing establishes himself as the true protagonist by giving the little guy a hand.
Great way to establish his and the hedgehog's origin story. He returns to his steed and finds that — alas! — someone (the fox, perhaps?!) snatched his meal. Here, we discover the villain of the story.
As our hero and his pal sit before a campfire, the apologetic fox returns with his stolen Zaxby's meal. The hero and our fox form a truce, and they all live happily ever after.
A wonderful and lighthearted approach to the plot's conflict and resolution. The story cuts to present day, with our hero now an old man. In a crazy twist and a great callback to the original — surprise! — our protagonist is the original “Guy on a Buffalo.” It’s then revealed that the journey was a fever dream, brought on by Zaxby’s Buffalo Garlic Blaze Boneless Wings Meal.
It's so good, it's a trip. There you have it folks, "Guy on a Buffalo Wing." It's funny, lighthearted, whimsical, and an all-around great time for people of all ages.
