Degrassi franchise fans were treated to the incredible news that there will be another chapter with a new HBO Max series in development for a 2023 premiere.

Degrassi @Degrassi School is back in session. Thrilled to be partnering with @hbomax on a new #Degrassi series from @WildBrainHQ! https://t.co/g3qW5vLp24 https://t.co/2aenyPBjUg 06:42 PM - 13 Jan 2022 Reply Retweet Favorite HBO Max / Via Twitter: @Degrassi According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lara Azzopardi of The Bold Type and Julia Cohen of Riverdale will take the reins from former showrunners Linda Schuyler and Stephen Stohn as showrunners and executive produce the new series.

HBO Max is also getting all 14 seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation for streaming, which is seriously perfect for the binge-watcher in all of us.

New Degrassi will focus on both students and teachers, which is great because a) it keeps a lot of the feel of the previous series in the franchise and b) because it brings the opportunity for some familiar faces to come back!

Degrassi fans aren't just dreaming either. Actors are commenting on the revival, and more than a few wouldn't mind reprising their roles, like Ana Golja. You might remember her as Zoe Rivas, Queen Bee of the late DTNG seasons and the Netflix seasons Degrassi: Next Class.

Ana Golja @TheAnaGolja Soooo….Zoe Rivas is going to be the Drama class TA? The new students def want a cute teacher that greets them with “Bonjour Bitches”. ‍ https://t.co/iQlgO9emYb 07:11 PM - 13 Jan 2022 Reply Retweet Favorite Ana Golja/Twitter / Via Twitter: @TheAnaGolja

Inspired by her tweet, here are some more ways I could totally see Degrassi students from back in the day coming back today.

And if you're not up on your Degrassi, beware of spoilers ahead!

1. It wouldn't be Degrassi without Emma.

Emma Nelson saying Epitome Pictures / Via gifer.com OK, so listen, I know Emma was not everyone's cup of tea. But hate her or love her, babygirl has been one of the biggest thru-lines in the series. When we last left off with Emma, she made the entirely baffling and out-of-character decision of marrying Spinner.Whatever, let's roll with it. Emma and Spinner were married, but let's just say that union wasn't written in the stars. One or two kids later, they split up, and Emma reemerges on the Degrassi scene as her oldest kid starts grade 7. It maths and puts her back in the mix.

2. Seeing her co-parent with Spinner? Yes, please.

Spinner Mason lifting weights Epitome Pictures / Via tenor.com Spinner the Single Dad is the sitcom I need in my life, please and thank you. One of the strong points of his character has always been balancing the funny, irresponsible side with the soft, well-meaning one, and I bet it translates great in a dad-child relationship. Spinner definitely is dating/has dated one of his kids' teachers.

3. Of course, this would necessitate Manny.

Manny Santos saying Epitome Pictures / Via tenor.com Argue with your comptroller. Manuela Santos was consistently that girl, and even when she was making baaaaad decisions you were still rooting for her. Degrassi has always been great with crafty electives and guest teachers, so don't be surprised to see Manny schooling these kids on personal branding and what not to do on the internet before you turn 18.

4. We would, of course, need the return of Principal Simpson.

Instagram View this photo on Instagram Degrassi / Via instagram.com The jury's out on if Jack would be interesting enough to make an appearance, but much like Emma, it's not Degrassi without one Archibald "Snake" Simpson. If Snake isn't still running the place, he's definitely the Yoda to whoever is.

5. In other faculty musts, let's bring back Marco Del Rossi.

Town and Country Web Soap @bredrew2 Marco probably teaches English and Drama at Degrassi #Degrassi 08:00 PM - 13 Jan 2022 Reply Retweet Favorite Epitome Pictures / Via Twitter: @bredrew2 You may remember that Marco came back as a student teacher in Season 9 of DTNG. By now, Marco would be a seasoned faculty member who knows how to balance getting work done and being a safe space for his students.

6. As she said, drama would have to be in the hands of seasoned actor Zoe Rivas.

Zoe Rivas making a cute face Epitome Pictures / Via gfycat.com Zoe Rivas had a seriously transformative journey as she went from stuck-up child actor to independent, humbled prom queen and valedictorian.

7. I'd also love Clare Edwards, the writing teacher.

Clare asking Eli if he's okay on Epitome Pictures / Via giphy.com From fanfic to fiction bestseller, Clare is definitely at Degrassi to teach kids how to journal and write memoirs while working on her own book about her time at the school. And yes, she and Eli found their way back to each other.

8. With Miles Hollingsworth as her co-teacher because come onnnnnnn.

Miles Hollingsworth commanding a room Epitome Pictures / Via tenor.com Miles was full of twists and turns, and I'm sure his adult life is no different. He definitely still finds himself in Tristan's DMs from time to time.

9. And Maya Matlin, music teacher extraordinare.

Maya Matlin going from straight faced to smiling Epitome Pictures / Via tenor.com Maya went alllll the way through it, and she deserves her time in the sun as a self-assured, moody, mysterious music teacher who has a soft spot for kids going through tough times like she did.

10. Craig pops by as a special guest speaker.

Craig Manning using his camera Epitome Pictures / Via tenor.com Craig Manning is definitely doing big things, but he takes time out of his busy schedule to go back to Degrassi and talk to students about birth control, mental illness, and addiction.

11. So does Terri.

Instagram View this photo on Instagram Christina Scmidt / Via instagram.com Our girl Terri MacGregor was CHEA-TED out of a better storyline, and in the reboot, I'd love to see her get her flowers. When she's not taking the plus-sized modeling world by storm, she is out here speaking out on the dangers of domestic violence.

12. Paige Michalchuk definitely rules the cheer world today.

Paige holding Darcy during Spirit Squad practice on Degrassi Epitome Pictures / Via tenor.com Paige finally got that business degree and decided to take the world by storm. After making cheer uniforms and consulting squads, she comes back to Degrassi to coach the newest iteration of the Spirit Squad (which was always better than the Power Squad, sorry not sorry).

13. And I really hope by now, Degrassi takes place in a world that Bianca DeSousa runs.

Bianca DeSousa smiling on Epitome Pictures / Via tenor.com Part of me wants her to be the mayor of Toronto (or queen of the world, whatever), while part of me wants her to be this crazy powerful lawyer who helps the little guy. No matter what she's doing, she's winning. She definitely keeps in touch with Drew and Audra.

14. Shay Powers continues to be an athlete and a brilliant scientist.

Instagram View this photo on Instagram Degrassi / Via instagram.com She hangs out at Lola's spot and coaches some Degrassi students in her free time.

15. And finally, Lola Pacini could own the newest student after-school hangout spot.

Instagram View this photo on Instagram Degrassi / Via instagram.com And she is ALLL up in their business, dropping her sweet pearls of wisdom here and there. She still has the best hair and style that the TikTokers WISH they could master.

Those are just some of my countless ideas. Who are you dying to see come back and how? Let me know in the comments!
