Bei der Entwicklung und Konstruktion von Produkten, die einen hohen Innovationsgrad sowie ein hohes Technologie- und Qualitätsniveau aufweisen, sollte frühzeitig auf eine wettbewerbsfähige und kundengerechte Kosten-Nutzen-Relation geachtet werden. Vor allem darin besteht der Vorteil, den erfolgreiche Unternehmen gegenüber weniger erfolgreichen haben. Markus Binder zeigt dies anhand einer Befragung von über hundert Unternehmen der Branchen Maschinenbau und Elektro/Elektronik. Der Autor demonstriert die aktuelle Situation in der Praxis und leitet Gestaltungsempfehlungen für ein Produktkostenmanagement ab, das neue Möglichkeiten der Beeinflussung und Überwachung von Produktkosten eröffnet, indem Kostensenkungspotentiale nicht erst vom Ort ihrer Entstehung, sondern bereits vom Ort ihrer Festlegung her gesucht werden.
