Elden Ring Creator Apologises To Those Finding It Too Difficult 26 May 20221 March 2022 by Richard Breslin Elden Ring creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has ‘apologised’ to those that might find the game a little too difficult. But is he really sorry? Elden Ring FAQ: Every Guide You’ll Need By now we all know that FromSoftware games are known for their gruelling difficulty. The challenge can give players the underdog feeling when overcoming challenging odds. For better or worse, it’s a huge part of its identity for the likes of Elden Ring, Dark Souls and Bloodborne.ADVERT ADVERT For some players, the challenge is welcomed but not for others. At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference as to what you want from a video game. For me personally, I love FromSoftware titles, despite absolutely sucking at them. That being said, Elden Ring’s creator has apologised to those that might find his games too much. When speaking to The New Yorker, Miyazaki said: “I do feel apologetic toward anyone who feels there’s just too much to overcome in my games. I just want as many players as possible to experience the joy that comes from overcoming hardship.” We’ re deeply sorry However, it begs the question, is Miyazaki really sorry and if he is, should he be apologising? After all, he did say during the same interview that the difficulty is his game’s identity.ADVERT ADVERT Credit: FromSoftware In our review of Elden Ring, we said: “If Dark Souls was the earthquake, Elden Ring is the aftershock. In a sense, it’s more of a love letter to the Soulsborne fanbase, incorporating dramatic fragments of each past game into a single product that is rewarding and fulfilling. While not perfect, I believe that FromSoftware has followed through on the hype surrounding this game and been able to create something truly mesmerising.” Do you think that Miyazaki should feel the need to apologise?
