And if you’ve managed to avoid discovering it for the past few days, you deserve your surprise. For those who have watched the opener to the Sex and the City reboot, the sad news of Mr Big’s death following a Peloton exercise session is no doubt weighing heavy on your heart (we spent six series watching Carrie get together with him and now this? Please). Rex Features The company behind the famous exercise bike are also not happy, especially as the class Mr Big – played by Chris Noth – takes part in before his heart attack was being taught by a fictional Peloton teacher, Allegra, who was in fact played by real-life Peloton instructor, Jess King. Last week, Peloton released a statement saying that while they had been made aware the bike would be used in And Just Like That, the show’s makers ‘did not disclose the larger context surrounding the scene to Peloton in advance.’ At the end of last week, the firm’s shares slumped after Big’s on-screen death. Now Peloton has found an altogether sassier way to hit back, with a parody advert that brings Big back to life. Posted with the caption ‘And just like that… he’s alive’ it shows Big and real-life instructor Jess sitting by a fire. They talk of ‘new beginnings’ and Jess tells Big he looks great, before he asks her ‘Shall we take another ride? Life’s too short not to’. And just like that…he's alive. pic.twitter.com/bVX8uWypFZ - Peloton (@onepeloton) December 12, 2021 Actor Ryan Reynolds, whose advertising firm produced the promo, provides the voiceover, saying ‘And Just Like That, the world was reminded that regular cycling stimulates your heart, lungs and circulation, reducing your risk of cardiovascular diseases.’ We’re certainly impressed by Peloton’s speedy response on this one. As one commenter observed on Twitter ‘Peloton was faster with a response than Carrie was with dialing 911.’ Well quite.
