Take former YOU cover star Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci – did you know Stanley is married to Emily’s sister? And that’s far from being the only celebrity sibling to form a bond between two stars. Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley in Downton Abbey, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the writer behind Fleabag, James Bond’s No Time To Die and Killing Eve are soon to be related, because Michelle has just become engaged to Phoebe’s brother, Jasper. Getty Images Michelle, 40, and Jasper, 34, confirmed their engagement via an old-school newspaper announcement in The Times. It read: ‘The engagement is announced between Jasper, son of Michael Waller-Bridge of King’s Lynn, Norfolk, and Teresa Waller-Bridge of Battersea, London, and Michelle Dockery, younger daughter of Michael and Lorraine Dockery of Gidea Park, Essex.’ View this post on Instagram A post shared by Michelle Dockery Fanpage? (@michelledockery.fanpage) It’s believed Michelle met Jasper, a film and TV producer, through friends in 2019 and the couple made their first appearance together at the Rome Film Festival. The news of their engagement is particularly poignant as it comes six years after Michelle’s late fiancé, John Dineen (pictured below), passed away from cancer at the age of just 34. Getty Images Speaking to The Guardian in 2017, Michelle opened up about her partner’s illness and what it was like caring for him: ‘I’m not exaggerating when I say that John did not complain once, never, not once, and that gave us strength. It’s what keeps you going, that positivity – to never lose that hope for a miracle. I couldn’t have done it any other way. ‘We were engaged, and married at heart, and so I do consider myself a widow’ she said, adding that she didn’t ‘have the vocabulary’ to describe how it felt to lose John. After all she’s been through, we’re happy to see Michelle has found love again after such a difficult loss. Congratulations Michelle and Jasper!
