The Tax-Aide program began in 1968 with four volunteers. Since that time, it has grown to a program that involves around 35,000 AARP volunteers who help 2.6 million individuals file their federal, state and local taxes each year. The AARP Tax-Aide program is offered at approximately 6,500 locations nationwide in senior centers, libraries, community centers, and at other convenient locations.
In 2008, more than 2,000 AARP Tax-Aide volunteers helped file 200,000 federal tax returns. The program is offered at approximately 335 sites in Texas including senior centers, libraries, malls and other convenient locations.

With the chaos of tax season upon us, AARP Tax-Aide services can provide guidance for your tax woes. Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest, free, volunteer-run tax counseling and preparation service. It provides assistance to low- and middle-income taxpayers with special attention to those ages 60 and older.
