Academy Award nominee Lupita Nyong’o, the star of 12 Years a Slave (directed by Steve McQueen, right) and the fashion icon of award season, wore Oscar gold to present the Best Picture award.

Dream Weavers

Breakthrough Achievement award winner Mary Steenburgen arrived with husband, CSI star Ted Danson. From the stage she called him “the opposite of a dream squasher; he’s a dream champion.”

She s Got a Crush on Bruce

Naomi Watts, a friend of Bruce Dern’s actress daughter Laura, presented his Best Actor award for Nebraska.

Accepting the Award for Ms Dench

Philomena Lee, on whose life story the movie Philomena is based, accepted the Best Actress award on behalf of Judi Dench, who's busy in India filming a sequel to Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Dench's costar, Steve Coogan, did the presenting honors.

Extra Points for Scribbling

Winona Ryder handed out Best Screenwriter awards.

Hawke to Delpy for the Win

Best Screenwriter award recipients included Before Midnight director Richard Linklater and (shown at left) costars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.

Funny Ladies
