AARP Texas Sponsors America' s Youngest Jazz Band

AARP Texas is proud to announce its sponsorship of America's Youngest Jazz Band at the 50th Annual Texas Jazz Festival, which runs from Oct. 15-17 at Heritage Park in Corpus Christi.

AARP believes that the future is tied to how we treat our children; we’re committed to championing the future of every generation.

America's Youngest Jazz Band is a Florida-based band entirely composed of children between the ages of 6 and 12. The 23-piece band is led by octogenarian Sunny LaRosa. As sponsors of America's Youngest Jazz Band's performance, we're one generation helping another.

Many high school and university bands also perform at the Texas Jazz Festival, which is the longest established and continuously-operated jazz festival in the United States. Originally founded at Del Mar College, the event has always had a youthful twist and has always been free to the public. Last year, more than 50,000 Corpus Christians came out to hear the music.

AARP Texas’ popular voter education van will be at the festival to share information on how candidates stand on the issues that matter to Texans age 50+. The voter education van is traveling South Texas, from San Antonio to the Rio Grande Valley, from Corpus Christi to Laredo. At each stop, volunteers and staff will be on hand to distribute voters' guides and answer questions.

Focusing on the issues of insurance rates, predatory lending and long-term care, AARP has produced voters' guides for the Texas governor's race as well as for congressional races. Folks unable to visit the voter education van can find the or call 866-227-7443 for a paper version.
