Stand Up for Kids

Turning around the lives of homeless teens

In the United States, thirteen kids die on the streets every day. When Lt. Commander Rick Koca retired from the Navy, he refused to spend his ignoring these numbers. He began Stand Up for Kids, a non-profit organization with the mission of improving the lives of homeless youth. Its focus goes beyond street outreach—while volunteers provide food, clothing and hygiene products to those in need...they also offer them a place to call home. Their motto: “Tell kids you care about them and then, at every point, prove it.”
