There are 2 main types of pillar blocks in Minecraft, namely - purpur pillar blocks and quartz pillar blocks.
Purpur is the word for a specific shade of purple in multiple languages, including Swedish, Polish, German and Cornish. They are decorative blocks found naturally in end cities and end ships. There are 2 sub variants of these blocks, chiseled purpur and smooth purpur which appear identical to regular purpur. These blocks must be chipped using a pickaxe, or else they won’t drop anything. Purpur blocks can be used to craft variants like slabs, planks and stairs along with pillars.
A block of quartz is a decorative mineral block. It can be turned into chiseled quartz blocks, quartz pillars or quartz bricks. Like the purpur block, it needs to be chipped with a , or else it won’t drop any quartz. Quartz is generated naturally as part of each bridge bastion remnant. Unlike purpur blocks, quartz can be traded with mason level villagers for emeralds.
