A was ’s First Raikage, who founded the Land of Lightning after the Warring states period. He gave land to the Yotsuki Clan in the Valley of Clouds, in return for their loyalty.

During A’s leadership after the Warring States Period, he probably sent the Gold and Silver Brothers to capture the Nine-Tails, a task they ultimately failed at.
He was accompanied by the future Second Raikage, his long-time bodyguard, during the inaugural gathering of the five Kage. He sat next to the other Kage and reminded that bowing to the other Kage was not a hallmark of a long-lasting leader. He expresses displeasure when the demanded 30% of whatever they would pay for a tailed beast from after asking the First Kazekage to give voice to his alternate desire because already had one. He watched closely as infighting erupted and Hashirama Senju pleaded with them to protect their children’s futures by uniting.
A left a significant moral mark relating to his desire to defend Kumogakure in his bodyguard, whose lengthy service and dedication gained him the nomination as his successor before his death during the war.
A appeared much later after his death during the conclusion of the Fourth Shinobi World War, when he was summoned by Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki along with the other deceased Kage from the Pure Land to assist him and the Hokage in summoning Team 7, the tailed beasts and from ’s realm. He later commented on the situation before his and other Kage’s souls returned to the Pure Land.
Not much of A’s personality was shown but he did appear to have a vocal tic, including his statements with “yo”. He also had the tendency of folding his arms. He was a proud man who believed that shinobi should not drop their heads so lightly. He had a deep desire to defend Kumogakure, which he passed on to his heir.
A had a dark complexion and pronounced lines beneath his eyes, as well as a mop of shaggy black hair that partially concealed his forehead protector. He donned a kimono shirt with a high collar, dark slacks linked by a sash, and a light colored scarf around his neck. He was also wearing little stud earrings. His outfit consisted of a cream coat with a high collar, a white forehead protector, zōri, and a purple scarf around his neck.
A’s abilities have not been demonstrated, though being the Raikage and the Founder of Kumogakure, he was undoubtedly a strong shinobi.
