PRESENTED BY AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- The Atlantic Coast Conference is moving its men's basketball tournament championship game to Saturday night. The league announced Tuesday that beginning this season, the tournament will shift to a Tuesday-through-Saturday format. The ACC had held its semifinals on Saturdays and its title game on Sundays since 1982. The semifinals shift to Friday nights with the title game being played in prime time on Saturday nights. This past year was its first as a five-day, 15-team event that started on a Wednesday and ended on a Sunday. The tournament will be held in Greensboro, North Carolina, in 2015 and Washington in 2016 before beginning a two-year run at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, then shifting to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2019.
