PRESENTED BY TULSA, Okla. -- The No. 2 Creighton men's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against Tulsa at Hurricane Stadium on Saturday night. The Bluejays took a 1-0 lead into halftime with a goal by junior Timo Pitter, but Tulsa rallied early in the second half to knot the score at 1-1. With the draw, the Bluejays remain undefeated at 4-0-1 while the Golden Hurricane stands 2-2-1 on the year. It was the first overtime match for Creighton this season, but the fourth-consecutive contest that Tulsa went into extra sessions. Creighton took the lead in the 40th minute on Pitter's goal from five yards out off the feed from Fabian Herbers from the left side. The score marked a second consecutive match with a goal for Pitter, his second of the season. The Bluejays would hold that one-goal edge heading into halftime. The teams tied with five shots apiece in the opening half. Each squad also added a pair of saves before the break. Tulsa’s Akeil Barrett scored the equalizer on his third goal of the season with 37 minutes left in regulation. Shots were even again in the second half with three on each side and Tulsa posted one save in the half. The Bluejays had opportunities in the second overtime, forcing Tulsa to make the three final saves of the match. Creighton’s Connor Sparrow allowed his first goal of the season while playing a full 110 minutes in net.
