PRESENTED BY STANFORD, Calif. -- Top-ranked Stanford won its 28th consecutive match to set a program record for wins to start a season after a 25-17, 25-18, 25-13 win against No. 19 Colorado, Saturday, at Maples Pavilion in Stanford, Calif. The Cardinal (18-0 Pac-12) clinched at least a share of the Pac-12 Championship, needing a win at Washington or California to win it outright. Stanford’s Morgan Boukather and Kyle Gilbert, along with student manager Keith Wyngarden, were recognized prior to the start of the match during the Cardinal’s Senior Night celebration. Boukather finished with nine kills, eight digs and three blocks, while Gilbert tallied 10 digs marking the 28th time this season she has reached double-digits. Stanford hit .353 as a team, racking up 8.0 blocks and four aces. The Cardinal held the Buffaloes (18-12, 10-8 Pac-12) to a .086 attack percentage. Stanford junior outside hitter Jordan Burgess led all players with 13 kills on 24 swings with no errors to hit a season high .542. She added 14 digs to notch her 16th double-double of the season. Junior middle blocker Inky Ajanaku totaled seven kills on 15 attempts with just one error to go with four blocks. Junior setter Madi Bugg guided the offense with 33 assists, while redshirt freshman Merete Lutz finished with six kills and four blocks. All 13 players on the Stanford roster saw action against Colorado, including junior Megan McGehee who tallied three kills and an ace. Colorado was led by senior Taylor Simpson’s 12 kills, 10 digs and three blocks. Alexis Austin added eight kills, while libero Cierra Simpson finished with 11 digs.
