PRESENTED BY In the second annual Red Bandana game, Boston College honored former Eagles lacrosse player Welles Crowther, who is remembered for his heroics during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Crowther, a 1999 BC alumnus, lost his life on 9/11 but not before leading at least a dozen people to safety in the South Tower of the World Trade Center. He became known as "The Man in the Red Bandana" and ESPN released a back in 2011. Fans, players and coaches all wore red bandanas Friday night as a symbol for Crowther, who always wore his signature handkerchief under his lacrosse helmet.
