The cause of death was revealed to be heat stroke, according to authorities. Police conducted a welfare check last month and discovered Barber's body in a Frisco apartment. In a statement, Frisco police said the Collin County medical examiner determined Barber's death to be an accident. A spokesman for Frisco police gave no further explanation on the set of affairs surrounding the late running back's passing. Chicago Bears v Denver Broncos Marion Barber was selected in the fourth round of the 2005 draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He played seven seasons in the NFL, six of which were with Dallas. The running back made his lone in the 2007 season, when he rushed for 975 yards on 204 carries with 10 rushing touchdowns. He played the final season of his NFL career with the Bears in 2011. That season, he rushed for 422 yards and six touchdowns in 11 games. The former Cowboys running back experienced some psychological problems following his retirement from the NFL. In 2019, Barber was arrested on two counts of criminal mischief for damaging cars while he was out running. He was sentenced to one year of probation, 60 hours of community service, and a $2,000 fine. Many speculated on whether he had been suffering from CTE. The family, however, will not donate his brain to CTE research, in concordance with Barber’s wishes. The former running back had been working on a book before he passed away.
