Pokémon 10 Water-Type Moves Stronger Than Hydro Canon Ranked
In Pokémon, Hydro Cannon is a strong water type move, but its takes time and has a poor accuracy. These water-type moves are technically better. is a legacy move that has high strength, but a very disadvantageous accuracy rate. This famous move has screwed over many with its epic misses but has screwed over opponents against it when it hits. This can lead to curiosity on a stronger or more reliable move to wipe out opponents rather than using as a Hail Mary. There are alternatives, some stronger by merit and usability for a tactical advantage in a Pokémon battle rather than in number. Not many can compare in attack strength to hydro cannon in Pokémon, but strength can come from use. So here are 10 water type moves that are stronger than Hydro Cannon. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Surf 90 Damage
There's nothing wrong with a trusty old surf. With 100% accuracy and 90 power, while has a recharge time, you can go for 2 consistent hits that would have a total attack power of 180. 30 attack points higher than what can do in 2 turns. The only disadvantage you'll find with surf is that it will hit all Pokémon on the battlefield, including your own teammates. In a one on one match, it's a perfect move to repeatedly use to get through an opponent's Pokémon. Splishy Splash 90 Damage
This specific move can paralyze the opponent and can do similar reliable damage as surf, just without damaging your teammates at the same time. If you want to overpower your , this move is a good way to do so. Its accuracy is 100% and with 90 damage for a specific target that also has a chance to paralyze it. It just shows how overpowered this move can be even if its strength isn't the same as . With this move, much like surf, can hit 180 attack points over two turns and will be guaranteed to hit with no risk. Crab Hammer 100 Damage
This move is specific to crab pokemon, such as Kingler, Crawdaunt, Clauncher, and Crabrawler. This physical move has a very high critical hit rate which ups its already high attack of 100. It has the chance to hit as hard as , but not likely to hit like that twice. However, because it doesn't need a recharge period it can hit once per turn which adds to the overall damage it can do. Its accuracy is only 90 however, meaning it isn't guaranteed to hit every time like surf can. Being a move that is learned by high physical strength Pokémon it's likely this would be the more ideal move for them than surf. Hydro Pump 110 Damage
Hydro pump is really strong and can do at least 220 attack points of damage if used twice in a row. This move can be really inaccurate making even more reliable at times, but with Hydro Pump you can still use it two times in a row to deal damage. Hydro Pump has gotten more reliable over the years and has become a decent move all to itself and it can be learned by most water type Pokémon, rather than being a legendary or starter Pokémononly move. Origin Pulse 110 Damage
Origin pulse is the signature move of the gen 3 legendary, Kyogre. This move was added on for the remake version of as part of Kyogre's new primal form. This new and strong move acts much like a stronger surf where it hits all targets in the area, friend or foe. Unlike surf though, This move has much lower accuracy at 85%. It's higher than Hydro pump's chances of hitting, but still quite inaccurate in Pokémon game standards. With its 110 attack power you can have the potential of doing 220 damage over two turns, and its ability can hit many Pokémon at once if you're in need of a 3 on 1 scenario in a triple battle. Brine 130 Damage-Under conditions
If used at full health Brine will do 65 damage, not enough to call it a special move in the least. When your Pokémon's health goes under half, it will do double damage, meaning it goes up to 130 attack damage per attack. Compared to which will do 150 over two turns, Brine will do 260 damage if your Pokémon is halfway to fainting. This can be a risky plan if the other Pokémon has a strong move against the Pokémon that has this move and probably won't work for wiping out a team, as most water Pokémon who can learn it are slower Pokémon. Having that first move is a big deal, but big damage is an even bigger deal and that's why using this move over hydro cannon can work. Being an initially weaker move, this move has the benefit of not being severely weakened for high strength, meaning it has 100% accuracy and will hit each time, the risk comes from your Pokémon being at half health. Water Spout 150 Damage
This move is only as strong as it is so long as your Pokémon's health is in the green. The weaker it becomes, the weaker the move becomes, so unless you are going first or are anticipating taking only one hit, you can guarantee this move will do 150 attack points per turn. With its 100% accuracy, you are sure to hit, so you can do 300 damage over two turns. This is mainly the signature move of the Wailmer line but can be learned by Frillish, Blastoise, and Octillery. The Pokémon who can use it aren't going to be the fastest but all have decent strength in their line to make this move worth some big damage, especially if you're using a Wailord. Max Geyser Dynamax
With all the regular moves done and gone through in this list, all that leaves is the special moves available in Pokémon. One of those moves is what Pokémon use when they go Gigamax or Dynamax, and for water pokemon that is Max Geyser. Max Geyser's attack depends on the Pokémons set moves before it, so if the move is weaker than Hydro Cannon so will Max Geyser, but if it's the same or stronger, then you have a move that beats out Hydro cannon in usability. With Max Geyser, your Pokémon's stats get stronger for 3 turns when Dynamax is activated, so the moves will naturally be stronger. Compared to Hydro Cannon, Max Geyser can be used for 3 times in a row with 100% accuracy making for huge damage. Oceanic Operetta 195 Damage- Z Move
This starter only Z move for Primarina has a very high damage number of 195, and can only be used if Primarina knows Sparkling Aria. Z moves have the big drawback of only being able to be used once per battle, making strategic and timely use all the more important, because using it on the wrong Pokémon can lead to a wasted tide turning move. This Z move only has one attack strength because it's based on a signature move. Hydro Vortex Z-Move
Hydro Vortex is the last on this list because it has the power to strengthen up based on what moves your Pokémon has before using the Z move. When the move Hydro Vortex is based on is Water Spout, the base damage this move can do is 200, 50 attack points above . It's the number one move for it's potential as a strong attack and ranks itself above Hydro Cannon as a move in Pokemon.
