Hidden Online Message Hints At Splatoon 3

A new post on the official Splatoon Twitter account is hinting at big things this year. The squid or kid debate may soon be continuing in 2020, as a new post on the official Splatoon Twitter account is hinting at big things this year, one of which may be the rumored Splatoon 3. Splatoon 2 was released within the first year of the Switch's launch and it received regular content updates and events throughout its run. Splatoon 2 was supposed to be receiving its final update in 2019, but the developers have since rolled that back and promised new weapon balance updates early in 2020, along with another update that is planned for later in the year. It seems that big Splatoon news is coming soon. The official Japanese Splatoon Twitter page has uploaded a New Years' message that seems as if it's positive on the surface but has a hidden message that could be hinting at things to come. The message includes an image with text saying "Have A Great 2020", but the reflection of the 202 in the water makes it resemble the words "SOS". There is also text that can be seen in the water that has words beneath the letters, spelling out "Save Out Salmons". THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY The most obvious meaning behind this message is that a new Splatoon game is on the way, especially as the 2020 schedule for the Nintendo Switch is currently looking bare and it would be the kind of high-profile title that would befit from a lack of first-party competition. Splatoon 3 isn't guaranteed, however, especially when you take new Splatoon 2 developments into account. It initially seemed as if Splatoon 2 was winding down, but the new balance updates could mean that the game is receiving new DLC content in lieu of a full-fledged sequel, as development on Splatoon 3 might not be finished in time for a 2020 release. Splatoon was one of Nintendo's most exciting franchises during the Nintendo Wii U era and Splatoon 2 took a bit of flak for being too similar to its predecessor. The developers will have had more time to work on Splatoon 3 and it will give them the chance to shake up the formula in ways that they couldn't before. Source:
