Assassin's Creed Odyssey takes players back to ancient Greece. There they get to meet some classical historical figures! is a game based during the time period of Ancient Greece when Athens and Sparta were at each other's throats. They even added an educational mode due to its incredible detail to help institutions teach children about this period through the game. The general gameplay also introduces players to several historical figures who were alive during this time. It can be hard to keep track of who a player met during the game, let alone what they were famous for in real-life. Some players may not have even realized that some of the people they met were actual people who lived many years ago. Herodotus
Herodotus was the man who accompanied a player on many of their adventures throughout the game, and this is because he was a historian. Many rely on his writings from this time period as he is to be 'The Father of History' due to his detailed accounts. He is often seen in the game introducing a character to various members of society and this is due to his prominence as a historian.

Sokrates, also known more commonly as Socrates, was a famous philosopher and he is constantly holding these types of debates with a character throughout the game. He played the part of a character's true father in the game and the man who held the staff that would seal off the gateway to Atlantis. This is obviously nowhere near the truth, but not much is known about him as few writings exist depicting his life and teachings.
Alkibiades
Alkibiades was for his cunning and treacherous nature back in the times of Ancient Greece as he switched sides during the war on numerous occasions. A player will first meet him at a party and his loose morals and colorful nature will be on full display, which is just how he acted in life as well. mention his position as a general in the Athenian army but eventually fled to Sparta after facing a death sentence in Athens. He was a slippery man with little regard for the law or anything for that matter, and the game does a great job of highlighting this fact.
Demosthenes
Demosthenes was an Athenian under the direction of Perikles who led a variety of victorious ventures during the war. A player will cross paths with him several times throughout the game as he will ask them to collect the seals from the Spartan generals. This speaks to his strategy during the war as he took out several Spartan commanders during his time as a general for Athens.
Phidias
Phidias was a sculptor, artist, and architect and a player will meet him in his workshop and attempt to help him evade death. He is for many of the most prominent statues scattered around Athens, like the statues of Athena and Zeus. He might have been murdered in the game, but in life, he ended up dying in prison either of illness or poison.
Kleon
Kleon was another political leader in Athens who opposed Perikles and his methods, which players witness several times throughout the game. He sought a more aggressive approach that many Athenians viewed as barbaric and more closely . A few of his savage ventures were uncovered in the game as he sought to punish the citizens of Mytilene after he gained power due to Perikles' death.
