Nioh 2 s Director Hints At Possible Ideas For A Sequel

Nioh 2 director Fumihiko Yasuda recently revealed some ideas he has for a possible Nioh 3. Koei Tecmo's might still be a young spring chicken, but that doesn't mean developer Team Ninja is resting on its laurels. The game's director, Fumihiko Yasuda, took part in a panel at MomoConLine this past weekend and revealed that he is cooking up some ideas for a possible Nioh 3. While obviously still a ways out, his ideas aren't simply a rehash of what the team has accomplished thus far. "Let's see… I feel like we've done everything that is usually covered with the Sengoku period," Yasuda explained, "and there's also the fate of William…Personally, I'm interested in Irish and Celtic mythology and legends, so I do want to make a game about that, and of course, a game about the Three Kingdoms period as well." THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Via: Koei Tecmo With Koei Tecmo being the publisher of Dynasty Warriors, getting a Three Kingdoms game would be a no-brainer. William Adams even appeared in Warriors All-Stars back in 2017, so having the reverse happen makes sense. If the team were to go more modern with Japanese history, it seems Yasuda would like to base a game around the of the 17th century. "A lot of stories relating to Japan revolve around the Sengoku period and the Shinsengumi, i.e. the Bakumatsu," Yasuda said, "and if I were to make a game on that, the Shinsengumi would definitely be an important part of it." Again, it should be stressed that Nioh 3 won't be happening for a while if it ever comes to fruition. Still, it's nice to see that Team Ninja is cooking up something different besides "Nioh 1 again."
