Phantasy Star Online 2 Is Getting A Majima Costume
Phantasy Star Online 2 is about to get a bunch of costumes focused on "Sega Legacy," including a Majima Goro skin. It looks like Majima really is everywhere. Sega has announced that will be getting a bunch of costumes themed around various Sega franchises soon. Called the "Sega Legacy" series, players will be able to grab outfits from Valkyria Chronicles, Puyo Puyo, Virtua Fighter, and Yakuza. The obvious standout is Majima Goro, but I'm also partial to that Ryoma Sakamoto costume. He's listed as "Shinsengumi Chief Robe" in the trailer, but it's clearly from Ryu Ga Gotoku: Ishin. Ultra fans will notice that, though the change was likely made since Ishin isn't available in the west. This costume is hardly any indication of a localization happening, but I'd love one. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Elsewhere in the trailer, we see Alicia from Valkyria Chronicles, Arle from Puyo Puyo, and Akira Yuki from Virtua Fighter. Available until July 14, players will be able to acquire Scratch Tickets by spending 200 AC (ARKS Cash) that can be traded for a chance at nabbing different costume pieces. It's kind of lame that you can't specifically get Majima, but then every MMO has similarly stingy rewards. It's crazy to see 2 continue to receive updates in 2020. The game has been available for nearly a decade over in Japan but recently launched in the west as an Xbox One console exclusive. The PC version has seen some troubles with the Windows Store but features cross-play compatibility with its Xbox One counterpart. Sega would have likely added these costumes even without a North American presence, but the popularity of the specific series chosen probably played a factor here. Yakuza has been taking off since the release of Yakuza 0 in 2017, so why not give fans of that series a reason to boot up PSO2? Everyone wants to be Majima, after all. I'm not exactly sure how AC currency works, but I believe it is a form of premium currency. That mean's you'll need to pay real money to obtain these costumes. I can't find any exact conversions, but I think they go for $2 each. With Phantasy Star Online 2 being free-to-play, that small price isn't such a terrible ask from Sega. Source:
