Souls-Like Metroidvania 3000th Duel Gets Hard Mode And 150 New Regions In Free DLC Nintendo Life

Available today on Switch by Share: on Indie games studio NEOPOPCORN Corp has released the first DLC for its grisly Metroidvania game on Nintendo Switch. Called '3000th Duel: The Wise Ones', the DLC contains more than 150 additional regions to explore, 60 kinds of monsters, new equipment and occults, and even a harder game mode. The best bit? All of it is 100% free. If you're only hearing about this one for the first time today, the game's inspired by dark-fantasy movies like Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, and takes a lot of inspiration from – yes – . We posted a review of the game shortly after it launched earlier this year. If you'd like to learn more, . We'll leave a snippet below. 3000th Duel is a highly enjoyable Metroidvania that some would argue borrows a bit too much from Dark Souls. With engaging combat bolstered by lots of unlockable weapons, a decent progression system, and some truly memorable boss fights, it can stand proud amongst the many examples of the genre currently available on Switch, even if it doesn't quite do enough to feel truly unique. Still, if you loved From Software's Souls series and fancy some more of the same, you could do a lot worse. If you already own a copy of the game, make sure to grab the DLC from the eShop today! He’d much rather just have a night in with Mario Kart and a pizza, and we can’t say we blame him. Comments ) That title is just word salad at this point. Souls-Like Metroidvania? The game is pretty fun, but not that hard so far (a couple of bosses done). Nice to see there's free dlc, will download it soon. Interesting! looks like my kinda jam! wow. that's a lot of new content. I really liked this game but I got stuck towards the end and couldn't figure out where to go next and ultimately had to set it down. I thought the gameplay was really good. The level design was pretty generic, but the enemies and combat were really well done. Well, not quite since there's a whole lot of 2d metroidvanias that employ a combat system inspired by Souls games. Salt&Sanctuary or Blasphemous are good examples. I got to the penultimate boss of this game over the summer and really enjoyed it until that boss. I got so frustrated after the 100th try (plus the path I had to continuously take to get back tp the boss) that I had to put it down. I prob won't dive back in, however if you like the genre you will prob like this one. Is hard to see the things in this game. It looks like something fans of the genres would like but it's not for me. I actually think the visuals are decent. I read that title as this being the 3000th Metroidvania. Which might be true when talking about Switch. So many Metroidvanias around these days. But where's the Metroid? 3000th Souls-like Metroidvania Name more than 5 I bought and played this game. Being generally a fan of metroidvanias, but not punishing difficulty, this may be the most difficult game (for me) that I actually hung in with and think that I got to the final boss (haven't confirmed online but pretty sure). However, the second form of that boss was just too frustrating for me so after 3 dozen+ attempts I finally bailed. Might try the DLC sometime, and recommend the game to anyone who doesn't mind the difficulty. For most of the bosses the save point is pretty close. Hard mode? No thanks. The closest to dark souls out of one of these games I have seen yet is Blasphemous. Love that so may have to keep an eye on this one. i'll check it out :3 really do love some hack n slash - hopefully this is good. Leave A Comment Hold on there, you need to to post a comment...
