Still, if even that isn’t a convincing testament to the resentment against the #54 driver, then perhaps take a look at how fans reacted to Dale Earnhardt Jr’s post-Phoenix comments. They gave it everything. Some in my timeline wanted us to wreck Ty. That ain’t no good to me. Noah would have done what it took to win if he could have reached Ty there at the end. But sayin Sam shoulda wrecked Ty is ,” he tweeted. ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad I appreciate our drivers efforts to win today. They gave it everything. Many reactions pointed out and emphasized that Gibbs should’ve been given a taste of his own medicine when it mattered the most. The fact that he wasn’t, followed by Junior’s comments really infuriated some fans. Lost all respect for Jr. Motorsports today. Lost all interest for the sport today. After today, I’m out. Ty should’ve been wrecked on Lap 1. He should’ve been in the FENCE. Ty should’ve been DESTROYED. I’m not surprised by these soft drivers anymore. Such a shame. — Austin Clark (@AJC_016) Wrecking him once wouldn't come close to matching the levels of he dished out in his career. Lack of respect shouldn't be enabled, it should be punished By letting the 54 finish this race in one piece the entire xFinity series garage basically enabled reckless driving — S. Adamczyk (@immaputdishere) You disappoint me JR. — The Messiah (@tht1guyudntknow) So you're letting your team know it's ok to take each other out but they ain't allowed to another manufacturer makes no sense you let your live of the Commanders get in the way of running your race team you lost a fan I'm selling all my Jr stuff and I hope Noah sticks it to HMS — Ron Lamping (@RonLamping) Literally no one wants to hear it Junior. What you think is “right” here is hokey and lame. Ty didn’t deserve that championship. He deserved to get it taken away in a brutal humiliating fashion. That’s what we wanted. We didn’t want “clean” it means nothing — c?nn?r (@BernienChompz) Nah that’s poor leadership on your part. 4 to 1 basically and the 1 came away with the cup. — Derek Miller (@DerekWMiller13) WATCH THIS STORY: Dale Earnhardt Jr had emphasized none of his drivers would be dumping Ty Gibbs
Ahead of the Xfinity Series finale, Dale Earnhardt Jr. had made it clear that none of his three drivers would go out in Phoenix and do something for which they have to put their heads down. Instead, probably the opposite is true. ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad SHARE THIS ARTICLE
